Mom Assaulted Daughter's Alleged Bully: Police

Police say Delia Garcia-Bratcher assaulted an 11-year-old boy who allegedly bullied her daughter. She is charged with felony child abuse.

Police in California say they arrested the mother of an elementary school student for assaulting a young boy she believed to be bullying her 10-year-old daughter.

"Investigators say 30-year-old Delia Garcia-​Bratcher came onto campus Friday and confronted an 11-year-old boy, that she grabbed him by the throat and threatened him." (Via KGO-TV)

Police say Garcia-Bratcher did not check into the school office when she entered school grounds during lunch time. They say she then asked her son who the alleged bully was. (Via KNSD)

According to a police statement, Garcia-Bratcher then grabbed the victim and threatened him to stop bullying her daughter. No adults were present, but an unspecified number of children witnessed the incident, including her own son. (Via KNTV)

The specific bullying allegations aren't currently known. Garcia-Bratcher has been arrested on charges of felony child abuse.

In a statement, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office says the victim had "red marks consistent with being grabbed in the neck area" ​when officers arrived at the scene. (Via Sonoma County Sheriff's Office)

​A police officer who spoke with The Press Democrat condemned the mother's alleged actions, saying, "To take it into her own hands was absolutely the wrong thing to do."

Garcia-Bratcher has been released on $30,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
