A self-pitying manifesto left behind by 22-year-old Elliot Rodger mostly focused on his lack of a girlfriend or the wealth to attract one before his shooting rampage Friday night in Isla Vista.
CBS REPORTER: "It says: 'This is the story of my entire life. It is a dark story of sadness, anger, and hatred.' It describes what he claims is a long history of bullying."
CNN also noted Rodger lamented being a "kissless virgin" and wrote he had to be ruthless to someday become wealthy.
"After all, it was my only hope of ever being worthy of getting a girlfriend and living the life of gratification that I desire."
While his jealousy was clearly geared toward wanting relationships like other young men, it drove him at times to what sounds like whining racism.
KTTV REPORTER: "Growing frustration that other boys have girlfriends and not him. At 19, he cried to his mother, 'How could an inferior, ugly black boy be able to get a white girl and not me?'"
RODGER: "It's not fair."
Several national outlets are crediting KEYT in Santa Barbara as one of the first to obtain Rodger's writings. The station says one of the shooter's Facebook friends sent it to them.
RODGER: "Tomorrow is the day of retribution."
As for the videos Rodger posted before the shootings, YouTube has already taken them down, noting it's a violation of the company's policy on violence.
The videos have still been grabbed and reposted over and over by media outlets and other YouTube users, however.
While deputies were called to his apartment for a welfare check in late April, the Santa Barbara County sheriff has said Rodger offered no indications he was "a danger to himself or anyone else." (Via The Washington Post)

Several people were also injured as Rodger drove the wrong way down a street, targeting bicyclists and firing on more people. Deputies who closed in on him during the shootings say they found Rodger with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
