The biggest fashion trend on the Emmys red carpet Sunday had nothing to do with dress style.

The 2015 Emmys red carpet was hot, hot, hot! We're talking fashionably and literally.

But the hottest trend on the carpet this year wasn't a dress style, it was a hair style. The lob.

Jamie Alexander, Kiernan Shipka, Taraji P. Henson, Sarah Hyland and Claire Danes rocked the short hairstyle on the carpet, and it looked so fab.

In terms of dresses, one of the most popular trends was one fresh off the New York Fashion Week runways: embellishments.

Some of our favorite looks had this trend, like Kiernan Shipka in Dior. Her golden yellow top with black pants ensemble was absolutely amazing. Plus, she looked like a real-life Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

Taraji P. Henson absolutely slayed in a custom Alexander Wang black dress with chain straps. She was definitely channeling her "Empire" character, Cookie, on that one.

Jamie Alexander also rocked the trend in a gorgeous multi-color Armani Prive. She shared an adorable moment on the carpet with her fiance, Peter Facinelli. Aw!

Kerry Washington also shut down the carpet in a metallic mesh Marc Jacobs gown fresh off the runway.

There was also a lot of white on the carpet. Tatiana Maslany looked stunning in a white Bouchra Jarrar suit.

Emma Roberts wore a pearl Giuseppe Zanotti gown that was just stunning.

But our overall top three of the night were Joanne Froggatt's J. Mendell gown, Sarah Hyland's maroon Zac Posen dress and maybe the biggest showstopper of the night, Aubrey Plaza.

Plaza's Alexandre Vauthier had a deep, deep V neck and a majorly sexy leg slit.

We also noticed everyone played it safe and didn't show too much skin. Probably something they regret seeing as how it was scorching hot out.
