Three men associated with a California-based white supremacy group are now in custody, while the FBI searches for a fourth.

The men face federal charges for violent attacks at political rallies across the state last year, including attacks on counter-protesters, journalists and a police officer.

The criminal complaint says the men are members of the Rise Above Movement. Nonprofit organization ProPublica investigated the group last year, calling it racist and violent. Its story featured three of the four men the Justice Department has now charged. ProPublica reported the group claimed to have more than 50 members at that time.

These charges come a few weeks after a federal grand jury indicted four other men from the same group in connection to last year's violent protests in Charlottesville, Virginia.
