The FBI might be the last place you'd expect to OK recreational marijuana use among its employees.

The Wall Street Journal highlights recent comments by Comey from a conference at the New York City Bar Association.
"I have to hire a great workforce to compete with those cybercriminals, and some of those kids want to smoke weed on the way to the interview."
Currently, the FBI won't hire anyone who admits to having smoked marijuana in the last three years.
But as a writer for PolicyMic puts it: "Beggars can't be choosers." She says the discussion shows pot is working its way further into the mainstream.
Really? One Europol official who talked to Infosecurity says it's simpler than that: The FBI isn't hurting for hackers because its talent pool violates its drug policies.
"Rather it is these agencies [sic] inability to compete with the salaries and remuneration packages top talented people can get in the private sector."
But when one attendee asked Director Comey about a friend who reportedly skipped the FBI on his job hunt because of the bureau's drug policy, Comey suggested "he should go ahead and apply." (Via Sophos, The White House)
