... might be back! According to Us Weekly's sources, Bethenny Frankel is returning "The Real Housewives of New York."
Now, this is the woman who said just a year ago she would never return to the show that made her famous.
ANDY COHEN FOR BRAVO / "WATCH WHAT HAPPENS LIVE": "Everyone has a number. Really? For $5 million you wouldn't come back?"
FRANKEL: "For a season? No."
COHEN: "For a season? For three months of shooting you wouldn't take $5 million?"
FRANKEL: "No."
COHEN: "Wow."
But since then, her daytime talk show was canceled, she's been through an expensive and dramaticsplit from husband Jason Hoppy that got her plenty of bad press, and sales of the Skinnygirl cocktail line she created have "slimmed."
So, four years after leaving, now could be the perfect time to head back to reality. And it's not a bad fit for Bravo, either.
Ratings have fallen for recent seasons of "The Real Housewives of New York."
In August, longtime star Ramona Singer credited the drop to a lack of captivating characters. “Before it was me, Sonja [Morgan], Bethenny, Jill [Zarin] — four huge personalities. Yet this season, there's seven women but there's only two big personalities."
Frankel is already a multimillionaire thanks to the sale of herSkinnygirl cocktail line and other products, but getting back on reality TV could be the right way to get the brand back in the limelight.
And she's always been a workaholic. Plus, the daytime show may not have been the work she was looking for. When it was canceled, Frankel said in a statement she was "relieved."
"Unlike my time on Bravo, I felt a bit diluted, filtered and somewhat constricted. ... I am more comfortable in my natural surroundings and in a setting where I'm surrounded by crazy, where anything goes."
Sounds a lot like a reality show.
