Giuliani Backtracks On Trump Answering Obstruction Questions

As of early Friday, it's unclear if President Donald Trump will answer any questions about obstruction of justice asked by the special counsel's team.

The president's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, told the Associated Press Thursday that obstruction questions were a "no-go."

But after that interview, Giuliani told NBC News that questions about any efforts the president might have taken to block the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election are "not ruled in or out."

The New York Times reported earlier this week that Robert Mueller recently offered to accept some written answers from President Trump. Mueller reportedly didn't ask for answers to obstruction questions.

Giuliani confirmed to CNN's Chris Cuomo on Wednesday that the president's legal team was negotiating with Mueller's office about the scope and format of those written questions.

"We came back to them with a few changes, but not material changes. We are now awaiting their response. I'm hopeful that we're maybe gonna get a yes," Giuliani said.
