Tony Seibert, the grandson of Vail Ski Resort co-founder Peter Seibert was killed during an avalanche Tuesday in the back country of Vail, Colorado.

According to Colorado's Avalanche Information Center, "This (avalanche) was most likely triggered by the people who got caught in it,"
The day of the avalanche the center also tweeted, "very large Persistent Slabs possible" even though weather conditions were otherwise great. (Via Twitter / @CAICsummit)
Seibert's death marks the second fatality by avalanche this season in Colorado. This video shows a near death experience for one Vail skier just a few days before Christmas. (Via CNN)
