House Passes Short-Term Spending Bill, But It's A Hard Sell In Senate
The House of Representatives passed a temporary spending bill Tuesday that would fund the government through March 23.
The House of Representatives just voted to pass a continuing resolution that would keep the government's lights on through March 23. Current funding runs out at the end of the day Thursday.
The bill would also fund the military through September and give it more money. But it doesn't include a deal on protecting Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival recipients and it doesn't beef up border security, which Tuesday the president said was a must.
That's going to make it a really tough sell in the Senate. And even after that, since it doesn't address border security, the president might not sign it. He said Tuesday he'd "love to see a shutdown" if illegal immigration loopholes aren't closed.
