Iran Gives Other Countries A Deadline To Save The Nuclear Deal

Iran wants the EU countries in the nuclear deal to spell out how they plan to keep it alive.

It looks like Iran is open to keeping the nuclear deal alive.

British, Chinese, French, German and Russian officials met with Iran's deputy foreign minister Friday to talk about how the deal could be saved without American participation.

President Donald Trump pulled the U.S. out of the deal May 8, opening the door for American sanctions against Iran to snap back.

Essentially, the other countries in the deal are trying to find a way to shelter Iran from the effects of reinstated U.S. sanctions.

Iran gave EU countries in the agreement until the end of May to present a plan to do just that. Then Tehran will take a few weeks to decide whether or not to stay in the deal.
