Protesters in Iraq set fire to an Iranian consulate on Friday, capping off a week of violent demonstrations that left several people dead.

Iraqis in the city of Basra have been protesting all week against corruption, unemployment, failing infrastructure and foreign influence. The city has been without electricity or safe drinking water. Protesters blame their hardships on government mismanagement and Iranian interference in the country's political system.

Earlier in the week, protesters set fire to political party and militia headquarters. Reports say around 10 people have been killed in clashes with security forces so far this month.

Iraq's Parliament scheduled an emergency session on Saturday to talk about the protests and violence.
