The Muppets Could Help Kids Get Schooling After Conflict

Sesame Street could help kids get schooling and cope with trauma after they've fled conflict.

Kids who are refugees often fall behind on their schooling. UNICEF estimates conflict prevents one in four kids from going to school.

And 12 million kids have had to leave their homes. That can affect them for a long time after.

So, the International Rescue Committee and Sesame Workshop are planning on using Muppets to teach culture-specific lessons.

They hope other international relief groups and parents will also use the programming.

Currently, the idea is a semi-finalist for a potential $100 million grant. One winner will be named at the end of this year.
