First daughter Ivanka Trump is calling for "religious tolerance" after a string of threats against Jewish communities across the nation.

Trump, who converted to Judaism before marrying her husband, posted a call to action on Twitter Monday.

The tweet read: "America is a nation built on the principle of religious tolerance. We must protect our houses of worship & religious centers."

Trump's statement came just hours after 11 Jewish community centers throughout the U.S. said they received phoned-in bomb threats.

According to the JCC Association of North America, there have now been almost 70 bomb threats at different Jewish community centers so far this year. Authorities have concluded all of those threats were hoaxes.

Also on Monday, police said vandals damaged dozens of headstones at a historic Jewish cemetery in the St. Louis area. Authorities have not said if they are considering the incident a hate crime.

President Donald Trump has been criticized for his administration's minimal responses to anti-semitic incidents.

But he told reporters Tuesday he denounces anti-Semitism whenever he gets the chance.

"I will tell you that anti-Semitism is horrible, and it's gonna stop and it has to stop," Trump said.

According to the New York Times, the FBI and the Justice Department are investigating the threats and possible civil rights violations.
