Attorney General Jeff Sessions is speaking up after President Donald Trump insulted him Wednesday on Twitter.
Trump criticized Sessions for tasking Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz with looking into possible FBI abuse through the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
Trump claimed the probe "will take forever" and that Horowitz "has no prosecutorial power and [is] already late with reports on Comey." Trump went on to say, "Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL!"
Sessions responded, saying he'd continue to do his "duties with integrity and honor."
Horowitz will investigate surveillance of former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. Horowitz does not have the power to prosecute but can make criminal referrals to the Justice Department based on his investigations.
