Jordan's prime minister has stepped down from his position after days of mass protests across the country.
According to a brief statement from the royal court, King Abdullah II accepted Hani Mulki's resignation on Monday.
The current education minister will reportedly take his place.
An official source told Al Jazeera the move is part of an effort to calm angry protesters, who are demonstrating against a series of price hikes and an income tax reform bill.
The massive protests have gone on for days now. Police say dozens of people have been detained and that more than 40 security personnel have been injured in the demonstrations.
