Gabrielle WareLawyers for the woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault say she "would be prepared to testify next week," under the right circumstances.
The Senate Judiciary Committee wants Christine Blasey Ford to testify Monday. But one of Ford's lawyers said the date is "not possible" and called the committee's insistence on it "arbitrary."
Ford's lawyer said Tuesday, "Any talk of a hearing on Monday, frankly, is premature, because she just came forward with these allegations 48 hours ago, and since that time she has been dealing with hate mail, harassment, death threats."
Ford is reportedly willing to testify next week under "terms that are fair and which ensure her safety."
Ford has accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her when they were both in high school. Kavanaugh denied the allegations.
Her attorney also said Ford has a "strong preference" that "a full investigation" is conducted before her testimony.
