A Pennsylvania group is hoping to make at least one neighborhood safer by organizing a neighborhood watch — hosted by the KKK.
PennLive reports the Ku Klux Klan passed out flyers alerting residents in Fairview Township, Pennsylvania that, "You can sleep tonight knowing the Klan is awake!".
The newspaper later confirmed these flyers were in fact from the local KKK. The group's imperial wizard, Frank Ancona (ann-cone-uh), told the paper they started it after a string of break-ins. "It's just like any neighborhood watch program. It's not targeting any specific ethnicity. We would report anything we see to law enforcement ... We don't hate people. We are an organization who looks out for our race. We believe in racial separation."
Pennsylvania's York Dispatch reports the flyers seem to have backfired after multiple people called police on the Klan to report them. Though police say they it's a matter of free speech and they can't do much about it.
And did we mention there's a 24-hour "Klanline," which, according to Ancona, has been pretty popular so far? It's not the first time this has happened either.
Similar flyers showed up Lexington, Mo., just outside Kansas City, in early July 2013, and residents weren't exactly pleased. (Via KSHB)
"When I saw it was a letter from the Ku Klux Klan I thought, 'You've got to be kidding me.'"
The flyers also popped up in Springfield, Mo. later that month and were met with about the same reaction. (Via KYTV)

Well, maybe this is all part of that Klan "rebranding" effort we've heard about.
CNN caught some flak over the weekend for a feature article titled "Can the Klan Rebrand?" "The headline of the article was eventually changed, though the article itself stayed intact. (Via The Huffington Post)
