Luxury fashion's biggest name is doing its part to help France amid the coronavirus pandemic.

On Sunday, LVMH, the parent company of brands like Louis Vuitton, Dior and Givenchy, announced it would convert some of its perfume production sites into hand sanitizer production sites.

As of Monday, France's confirmed coronavirus cases numbered near 7,000 and French President Emmanuel Macron had placed the country on lockdown. LVMH said in a statement it would deliver the hand sanitizer to French health authorities for free while the country faces shortages of antiviral products.

It said, "Through this initiative, LVMH intends to help address the risk of a lack of product in France and enable a greater number of people to continue to take the right action to protect themselves from the spread of the virus."

LVMH says it expects to produce 12 tons of hand sanitizer it its first week and will continue to make it for as long as necessary.
