A U.S. district court judge has unsealed more charges against former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort. The charges, filed by special counsel Robert Mueller, accuse Manafort of paying European politicians to lobby in the United States on behalf of the pro-Russian Ukrainian government.

The alleged scheme happened around 2012. The charges were unsealed shortly after Manafort's longtime business partner Rick Gates pleaded guilty to separate charges stemming from Mueller's investigation. Gates is also mentioned in the unsealed charges.

So far, Manafort has pleaded not guilty to the numerous charges brought against him. He's even countersuing the Justice Department, arguing Mueller's office has overstepped the boundaries of its original task, which was to investigate Russian meddling in the 2016 elections.
