Candice AvilesSpiders are creating a big headache for Mazda. The automaker issued its second recall in three years because spiders might cause certain fuel tanks to crack.
Mazda recalled 42,000 Mazda6 cars in the U.S. They are the 2010 - 2012 model years equipped with 2.5-liter engines.

"That causes pressure to build in the fuel tank. Well that increases the risk of fuel leaks and fires within the vehicles." (Via KXTV)
Back in 2011, Mazda recalled cars for the same problem but added a cover on the vent line to help keep spiders out. However, WABC reports that didn’t do much because spiders could get around them.
When it comes to where this problem started, the Inquisitr reports "the spiders in the gasoline tanks have only been spotted in cars from the company's plant in Flat Rock, Michigan. ... the spiders must have entered hoses at a warehouse before being shipped to the assembly plant."
For those impacted by this latest recall, Mazda will update the cars software and inspect and clean the canister vent line. The company will also replace some parts if spider webs are found. (Via Safercar.gov)

The good news, Mazda says no injuries or fires have happened yet.
