An MTV fan-favorite show is making its way back to the small screen ... for a day.
"Total Request Live," or "TRL," was the network's flagship series for a decade. It showcased music videos and musical performances before it went off the air in November 2008. (Via MTV / "Total Request Live")
Wednesday, MTV announced it was resurrecting the countdown for one night only: July 2. But it'll have a new name: "Total Ariana Live." The special episode will be centered around teen pop sensation Ariana Grande.

In true "TRL" fashion, expect Grande to play some games with host Sway Calloway, who used to VJ the original show in the post-Carson Daly era. Now he's a reporter and executive producer for MTV News. (Via Flickr / jon mannion)
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the executive VP of Grande's record label says: "Only one artist has the power to turn the lights back on at 1515 Broadway in the iconic TRL studio, and that's Ariana Grande. The transformation to Total Ariana Live represents her one-of-a-kind star power combined with MTV's immense multimedia platform, setting the stage for the ultimate global partnership."
The special event will air at 7 p.m. Eastern time July 2. And Grande is already teasing her fans that she'll make a big surprise announcement on the show. Guess we'll just have to tune in to find out.
