North and South Korea are going to remove even more guard posts — this time along their shared border.
South Korea's defense ministry announced Friday each country's agreed to "completely destroy" 11 of their guard posts by the end of November — for a total of 22.
Both sides are expected to jointly verify the other's removed all personnel and equipment from each location sometime in December.
This newest agreement comes after North and South Korea removed all weapons and ammunition from the border village of Panmunjom in the demilitarized zone. Up until Thursday, it's reportedly the only place on the border where opposing troops faced off.
The guard post removal is part of an effort agreed to by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in to reduce tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
