CNN notes the Blade Runner said he was "besotted with her" in court in South Africa.

Tuesday morning, Pistorius said Steenkamp left him a Valentine's present on February 13th. She told him not to open it until the next day. He said couldn't bring himself to do so until August 8.

"On Reeva's birthday, I opened her Valentine's gift to me and it was a photo frame that she got made that has four photos of her and I."

Also Tuesday Pistorius also answered questions about the layout of his home and how his bedroom was set up the night of the murder.

"Earlier this morning he read text messages between the two. Some were loving messages, others showed Steenkamp was afraid of the Olympian."

The defense is trying to paint a portrait of how Pistorius was raised — his he says, mother slept with a gun under her bed.

ABC notes Pistorius testified Tuesday security was a concern for him. He told the court he had an alarm system and hard wood doors, but said they were brittle.
