At a Tuesday news conference, House Speaker Paul Ryan shut down rumors that he's on his way out of Congress.

"I'm not going anywhere anytime soon, and just let's leave that thing at that," Ryan said.

Multiple outlets reported last week that Ryan had talked to friends and family about retiring after the 2018 midterm elections.

The news comes as Republicans push forward on their tax overhaul. The House is scheduled to vote on the bill Tuesday. If it passes, it'll head to the Senate.

As of Tuesday midday, it looked like the GOP had the votes it needed in both chambers to send the bill to the president's desk before Christmas.
