Some voters are trying to persuade former President Barack Obama to run for office again.
Only this time, the position is in France.
A petition calling for Obama to run in the French presidential election has been making the rounds online.
The group behind the petition says its goal is to get a million signatures. And NPR reports it's well on its way. As of Thursday evening, about 27,000 people had signed.
So, why Obama? Well, as the petition's website put it, "Because he has the best resume in the world for the job."
His French fans have even adopted his U.S. presidential campaign slogan — "Oui on peut," or "Yes we can."
But to become the president of France, you have to be, well, French. Obama isn't a French citizen. And that's where you might realize the co-founders have a different goal.
One told NPR: "It's definitely a joke. But it could make people think a little bit about what we could do differently in French politics. ... The idea was to make people wake up."
But hey, they can dream, right?
