A sad conclusion to the search for Misty Upham. Authorities believe a body found Thursday is that of the missing actress.
Local reports said friends and family found the body down a ravine while they were out searching for Upham. She had been reported missing more than a week earlier by her parents who said they were concerned about her mental health. (Video via KOMO / CNN)
"Family and friends have been critical of the police response, so they organized their own search party and today found the body."
Upham has had several small Hollywood and television roles, including a part in 2013's "August: Osage County," acting alongside Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and other big names.
The actress had reportedly moved to Washington to help care for her parents, but her family says she suffered from anxiety problems and bipolar disorder and had struggled to find the right medications after the move. (Video via People)
In a statement posted to Upham's Facebook page, her father Charles said, "I do not fear she committed suicide. ... I think Misty may have walked into nearby woods and got hurt and can't reach help or I think she may have had an encounter with someone who may have caused her harm."
So far, authorities haven't confirmed whether the body was in fact Upham, but her purse was found nearby. No word yet on a cause of death.
