Gabrielle WareSecretary of State Mike Pompeo and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley are denying claims Cabinet members discussed invoking the 25th Amendment.
A New York Times report out last week said Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein discussed the idea of invoking the 25th Amendment after President Trump fired former FBI Director James Comey in May 2017.
Rosenstein is meeting with Trump Thursday possibly to discuss the future of his position.
Monday, Pompeo denied hearing any such conversations and called the idea of it "ludicrous." Haley, said, "It is completely and totally absurd. Nobody is questioning the President at all."
Section 4 of the 25th Amendment outlines how the vice president and a cabinet members can remove a President from office if they determine he "is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office."
