Authorities are still trying to find a possible motive in Wednesday's high school stabbing that left 21 people injured. But WCAU reports suspect Alex Hribal's attorney thinks police are struggling.
"The lawyer for 16-year-old Alex Hribal says he thinks police are as puzzled by what the teen did as his family is. The lawyer also says his client doesn't fully grasp what he did."
And the boy's lawyer paints the same picture for CBS News, saying: "There is no history here. There has to be a reason why his occurred. People just don't decide to do what he allegedly did at the spur of the moment."
KDKA reports, while there have been suggestions of bullying playing a role in the stabbing, it has yet to be confirmed.
"A lot of talk about whether or not bullying played any role in what happened at Franklin Regional. So far it is unconfirmed, but the school district says it takes the issue of bullying very seriously."
In fact, CNN reports one FBI official says bullying is not the issue. "He was disaffected but not bullied." The boy's attorney says Hribal will be examined by mental health experts.
According to WPXI, Hribal is being held in a juvenile detention center while authorities continue to investigate.
The boy has been charged as an adult, facing charges of attempted homicide and aggravated assault.
