Despite numerous crises coming out of some of the 32 countries competing in the 2018 World Cup, fans are able to turn a blind eye and see FIFA for exactly what it is: a competition. "The Day Ahead" is speaking with Andrei Markovits, co-author of the book "Offside: Soccer and American Exceptionalism." He explains that despite controversies like human trafficking and chemical poisoning, most people who tune in to watch over the course of four weeks do not have these scandals on the forefront of their minds.
