Yosemite National Park Closes Some Areas Due To Nearby Wildfire

Authorities have decided to close certain areas of Yosemite National Park as a massive wildfire continues to rage nearby. 

According to Yosemite's website, several locations, including the popular Yosemite Valley, will be closed to visitors until at least July 29 "due to fire operations."

As CNN points out, that means campgrounds, hotels, visitor services and other facilities in those areas will be shut down.

Yosemite isn't in imminent danger from the Ferguson Fire, which started earlier this month and had burned more than 38,000 acres as of Wednesday.

But officials say the thick smoke from the blaze prompted the closures. According to USA Today, about 2,000 visitors were inside the park as of Tuesday.
