Surprise! Beyoncé released a new album without any prior notice or announcements.

That's right, no one knew B's fifth album, simply titled "BEYONCÉ," was coming until it suddenly appeared on iTunes just after midnight on Friday. (Via Sony Music Entertainment / Beyonce)

But so far, the singer's big surprise managed to turn Twitter into an absolute frenzy. (Via Twitter / @InTheBeyHive, Twitter / @paytonmccall)

And it even made iTunes temporarily crash as fans rushed to download it.

"I didn't want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it's ready and from me to my fans." (Via Facebook / Beyoncé)

And as if that wasn't enough of a bombshell for you, Beyoncé's Instagram video announcement describes her new release as a "visual album," which basically means each of "BEYONCÉ"'s 14 tracks is accompanied by a matching music video. (Via Sony Music Entertainment / Beyonce)

And if you download the album on iTunes, you get an additional three videos so you can stare at Queen B in all her glory even longer. (Via ABC)

So far, early feedback from fans isn't looking too shabby, either, with some listeners calling the album "a masterpiece" and "a piece of artwork." (Via Twitter / @KingJames773, Twitter / @AydaShah)

Basically, general sentiment right now: Only Beyoncé could pull off something like this. The album also features hubby Jay-Z, Drake and even her daughter, Blue Ivy. It's only available online for now — physical copies won't hit stores for a few more weeks. But so far, this is turning out to be a pretty lucky Friday the 13th.
