A train carrying Republican lawmakers hit a truck on its way to an annual retreat in West Virginia Wednesday.
The collision happened about 19 miles west of Charlottesville, Virginia. The White House confirmed there is at least one fatality and one serious injury among the three people in the truck. Amtrak said passengers and crew on the train were not seriously hurt.
Sen. Jeff Flake told the Washington Post he and other lawmakers are helping the injured get medical treatment.
