Katherine BiekPresident Donald Trump announced Thursday that he plans to grant a full pardon to conservative commentator and filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza.
In 2014, D'Souza pleaded guilty to violating federal election campaign law. He admitted to illegally using straw donors to contribute to Republican Wendy Long's unsuccessful 2012 U.S. Senate campaign.
D'Souza was sentenced to five years of probation — part of which included confinement to a community center — and a $30,000 fine.
Trump's already pardoned several people during his time in office, including former Maricopa County, Arizona, Sheriff Joe Arpaio and former Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, I. Lewis Libby Jr., also known as "Scooter."
