Later today, President Donald Trump is expected to formally recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and relocate the U.S. Embassy to the city from Tel Aviv.
Trump is scheduled to give a statement on Jerusalem from the White House at 1 p.m. Eastern Time.
He informed several leaders in the Middle East of his decision Tuesday — including Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, Jordan's King Abdullah II and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The move could create major problems for the region. Newsy previously reported it could lead to violence and potentially end any hope of negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis.
