As shelves at stores around the country are emptying because of coronavirus-driven shopping, Walmart says it is shortening store hours.
The company said starting Sunday its 24-hour locations would only be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., until further notice. Stores that are currently operating at shortened hours will keep their regular hours.
In a news release, Walmart's executive vice president said the shorter hours will "help ensure associates are able to stock the products our customers are looking for and to perform cleaning and sanitizing."
As the number of coronavirus cases have grown, stores like Walmart and Costco have seen shelves empty as people load up on everything from toilet paper to food.
Walmart previously told store managers they could limit quantities of items customers could buy, as the demand for paper products and sanitation supplies increased.
