The Trump administration is holding off on new sanctions against Russia.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley told CBS News' "Face the Nation" Sunday the sanctions would punish Russia for its support of the Syrian government following last week's suspected chemical attack in Douma, Syria.

Haley said the U.S. Treasury would announce those sanctions Monday. But White House press secretary Sarah Sanders walked back the statement made by Haley, saying the White House was still considering sanctions.

The Washington Post reports President Donald Trump wasn't comfortable executing the sanctions, so he hadn't authorized them yet and probably wouldn't unless Russia did something to trigger them.
