1 Dead, 6 Injured After SUV Slams Into Ice Cream Shop

A terrifying crash at a California ice cream shop Friday night left one woman dead and as many as six others injured.

One woman is dead and as many as six others hurt after an elderly man driving an SUV rammed into a crowd in front of a California ice cream shop. 

"A 73-year-old was killed. She succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, very unfortunate. Firefighters confirmed two adults and three children suffered mild to moderate injuries." (Via KNBC)

It happened outside Ferrell's Ice Cream Parlor in Buena Park Friday night. Neither the driver of the SUV nor the passenger were not injured, and both are cooperating with the investigation. (Via KNSD)

"The driver of the SUV was detained for questioning. The crash remains under investigation." (Via KABC)

"Police say the car jumped a curb, ran through a fence and crashed into people ... witness say it looked like the driver hit the gas peddle instead of the break." (Via KGO-TV)

Witnesses described the gruesome scene to KFSN

"Kept going ... and he crushed, there was like three people sitting on that bench, and he just went straight into them and crushed them."
