Police have named the victim — Toshia Edmonson — but haven't specified the relationship between the two. Several outlets, however, are reporting Edmonson is the girl's mother. (Via KTVT)

According to a police report, the girl said it started after an argument with her mother,  Toshia Edmonson. The girl says her mother shoved her into the couch and threatened to give her away. (Via WFAA)

“The girl told police after a physical confrontation, she waited for Edmonson to fall asleep before she took a knife to her head, neck and shoulders. Another person in the apartment building called the police." (Via  KXAS)

When police officers arrived around 4:00am, KTVT reports they found the mother and daughter covered in blood.

According to The Dallas Morning News, Toshia Edmonson remains in serious, but stable condition at a Dallas hospital.

Police have not released the name of the girl because she is a minor. She’s been charged with family violence and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held at a juvenile detention center.
