Instead of the last few days of high school, four Ohio teenagers could face jail time over a senior prank gone too far.
The students are accused of deflating the tires of all 24 of their school district's buses, leaving a note saying, "You have been pranked by seniors 2015" in chalk on the asphalt. It was an apparent ploy to get school cancelled for the day, but it also caused thousands of dollars in damages.
"Chalk on the sidewalk is fine, but purposeful, damaging vandalism is criminal conduct and you're going to suffer the consequences of your actions," said Clark County Sheriff Gene Kelly.
The act was caught on surveillance video and now all four of the students are charged with felony vandalism and disrupting a public service.
"You can't dismiss this as kids just having fun because they did some real damage here and they are going to have to pay for it," said Northwestern Local School District Superintendent Tony Orr.
An exact dollar amount for the damages has not yet been announced, but the students aren't alone in taking senior pranks too far this year.
More than 100 students in Tennessee have been barred from graduating after what started as a prank with glitter and balloons ended with the school being utterly ransacked, with live chickens and crickets left roaming the halls.
