One law enforcement officer is dead and six others are injured after a standoff in Florence, South Carolina on Wednesday.
A lot of what happened is unclear, but we do know the officers were attempting to serve a search warrant at a home when an unidentified suspect opened fire. Officers then called for backup.
The suspect barricaded themselves in the home with an unspecified number of children for around two hours. Police eventually arrested the suspect and took them into custody.
The Florence Police Department officer who died was identified as Terrence Carraway. The conditions of the injured police officers are unclear.
Authorities are investigating the shooting.
