Hi, I'm Johannah Grenaway and here's a look at the stories Newsy is watching now.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Wednesday that he'll delay a vote that could allow him to stay in power for another 16 years. The nationwide vote on proposed constitutional amendments was supposed to be held April 22, but Putin says the country will hold off for now until it has a better idea of how the coronavirus pandemic will play out there. Russia currently has almost 700 confirmed cases of the virus.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe doctors and nurses went on strike Wednesday due to unsafe work conditions while battling the coronavirus pandemic. They say they don't have enough protective gear. The country's only seen three confirmed cases of COVID-19, but it neighbors South Africa, which has over 700. Health care workers in Zimbabwe are worried that the situation could quickly cripple their already struggling healthcare system.

And in the U.S., the Justice Department chimed in on the ongoing federal lawsuit about transgender athletes in Connecticut. The state board that oversees Connecticut's high school athletics says its policy of allowing trans high schoolers to compete with their identified gender falls under Title 9 protections. But A.G. William Barr disagreed in a statement of interest Tuesday, saying it's unfair for female athletes to compete with someone who's biologically male.
