A vote on Judge Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination will take place Friday.

The Senate Judiciary Committee will make its decision just one day after hearing testimony from Christine Blasey Ford. She has accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her while the two were in high school. He denies the allegations.

Republicans have been working to move Kavanaugh's confirmation process forward even as another woman accused him of misconduct. Sen. Mitch McConnell said the allegations were part of a "shameful smear campaign" against Kavanaugh. Neither woman's claims have been formally investigated.

On the scheduled vote, Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein said: "For Republicans to schedule a Friday vote on Brett Kavanaugh today, two days before Dr. Blasey Ford has had a chance to tell her story, is outrageous. ... It's clear to me Republicans don't want this to be a fair process."

If Kavanaugh's nomination is approved by the committee, the full Senate will vote on whether he'll sit on the nation's highest court.
