A Georgia teacher was arrested Wednesday after police say he fired a gun inside a classroom, where he'd barricaded himself.

Law enforcement say Randal Davidson wouldn't let students into his classroom during a planning period Wednesday afternoon. When the principal tried unlocking the classroom door to get in, Davidson reportedly fired a handgun, sending a bullet through an exterior window.

The school went into lockdown, and when police got there they evacuated the building. One student injured an ankle trying to get out of the building, but otherwise no one was hurt. Police said the teacher surrendered after about a 30-45 minute standoff and that it didn't appear he was trying to hurt anyone.

The school's principal, Steve Bartoo, says students at Dalton High School found a threatening note in a classroom just last week. And there was another incident like that a year ago, according to Bartoo.

There have been a number of reported threats to schools around the country in the wake of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting. Police wouldn't elaborate on what the motive was behind Wednesday's incident.
