17-year-old Claire Davis continues to fight for her life after being shot in the face during Friday's shooting at Arapahoe High School.
Davis was the only victim of suspected gunman Karl Pierson. Police say Pierson entered the school armed with a shotgun, firing five rounds and igniting an explosive before committing suicide. (Via KCNC)
Davis's family issued an update late Sunday saying Claire is still in critical condition and has gone into a coma. The family also thanked the community for the outpouring of prayers and support. (Via Facebook / Littleton Adventist Hospital)
Students describe Davis as a passionate equestrian and a beloved friend.
"Bubbly, beautiful, young lady. Her smile was infectious. ... She was very passionate about her horse riding. She was great at it, and she was a good friend." (Via KUSA)
The community held a candlelight vigil for Davis Saturday to comfort each other and pray for her to pull through. (Via KMGH)
And on Sunday, Colorado governor John Hickenlooper visited Davis in the hospital and talked with her family.
"We all have to keep Claire in our thoughts and our prayers. Her parents — again, I just, I can't imagine what they're going through. It's unspeakable." (Via CBS)
Hickenlooper went on to credit the school's security protocols and first responders for keeping the shooter's rampage contained.
