Lawyers for former pharmaceutical CEO Martin Shkreli are appealing his seven-year fraud sentence. CNBC reports a notice of appeal for the case has been filed.

Shkreli was convicted in August of defrauding hedge fund investors and manipulating stocks from one of his pharmaceutical companies. He was sentenced in early March.

The appeal could take over a year to resolve. Shkreli will remain in prison during that time.

The judge presiding over his case is still deciding whether he should have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in restitution to one of the investors he defrauded.
