A new report names more than 200 Bay Area Catholic clergymen it says have been accused of sexual misconduct.
A law firm that represents sexual abuse victims compiled the 66-page report and released it on Tuesday.
The clergy listed in the report were associated with the Archdiocese of San Francisco, the Diocese of Oakland and the Diocese of San Jose. The law firm said it named 263 individuals, but the East Bay Times reported that some of the names on the list were duplicates, as they worked in more than one of the Bay Area dioceses.
The report said lawsuits were filed against many of the named clergymen but most of the claims were settled or haven't "been fully evaluated in civil court."
The lawyers also accused the Bay Area dioceses of covering up the sexual misconduct.
This is just the latest sexual abuse scandal the Catholic Church has faced. Earlier this month, the Archdiocese of Washington posted a list of 31 priests it says were accused of sexual abuse of minors that dates back to 1948.
