Love the Chairman of the Board? Enough to buy his address book for almost $9,000?
Auctioneers say Frank Sinatra's book is not only filled with information regarding hundreds of friends, family members, musicians, politicians and athletes but also his favorite hotels, restaurants, travel arrangements and even clothing measurements.
And in a tongue-in-cheek style the Rat Pack was known for, on the cover of the book is a line Sinatra got from a fortune cookie: "Beware of friends who are false and deceitful." The smiley face is a nice touch, though.
The Washington Post reports the sale came just weeks after Sinatra's custom California villa went on the market. It's the same home he famously flew guests to for parties.
Sammy Davis Jr., Sinatra's friend and fellow star, kept an address book himself that was up for auction last year. However, the minimum bid of $4,000 wasn't reached.
But Marilyn Monroe beats Sinatra in terms of what her address book is worth. Five phone numbers belonging to Sinatra were listed in her book, which was auctionedin 2005 for roughly $90,000. Ain't that a kick in the head?
