Tiny Little Boxes Are America's Newest Food Pantries

America's newest food pantries are really tiny.

The little boxes can't hold as much as a traditional food pantry, but that's not the point.

"It's really hard for people to ask for help," said the director of the Little Free Pantry in Berea, Ohio.

Churches, communities and individuals have opened up little pantries across the U.S. They're stocked by the community and accessible to whoever needs items like food, toiletries or diapers.

The idea started as a project in 2016. Anyone who sees a need can start a tiny pantry.

It's not just for poor areas. And it can be filled with exactly what a community needs.
