The judge overseeing Paul Manafort's case in Virginia rejected a defense motion to toss his indictment. But the judge's ruling isn't a rousing endorsement of the prosecution's case, either.
During the hearing on the motion in May, the judge seemed to question Robert Mueller's authority to prosecute Manafort. But in his ruling, he said Manafort's defense team didn't make a strong enough case to warrant throwing out the indictment.
Manafort faces charges of bank fraud and tax evasion in the Virginia case.
But the judge ended his ruling with a warning: "Although this case will continue, those involved should be sensitive to the danger unleashed when political disagreements are transformed into partisan prosecutions."
