Limo Driver Heard Morgan 'Screaming For Help' After Crash

Tracy Morgan remains in the hospital in critical condition. The driver of the semi suspected of hitting the limo Morgan was in faces charges.

Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan remains in the hospital in critical condition after police say a semi ran into the limo he and several friends were riding in. Now, the driver behind the wheel of that limo is speaking out.

LIMO DRIVER: "I climbed around and heard Tracy screaming for help, but I couldn't reach them and pull them. ... I just remember the impact. We didn't know which way was up, which way was down." (Via ABC)

Police say the driver of the semi suspected of hitting the limo didn't notice traffic slowing down in front of him on the New Jersey Turnpike. That's when they say the driver tried swerving out of the way to avoid the accident. (Via WNYW)

The driver of the semi has been charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto. (Via KYW-TV)

The crash happened as Morgan and the other passengers were heading back up to New York after Morgan's performance at a comedy show in Delaware Friday night. (Via WCAU)

In the wake of this weekends accident, several celebrities have sent their well wishes on Twitter. Steve Martin calls Morgan: "A real gentleman and hilariously funny." Mary J. Blige wrote: "I send angels and prayers to Tracy Morgan." And Carson Daly says: "God be with him and his family."

The accident also killed Morgan's friend and fellow comedian James McNair. McNair's family spoke to reporters Saturday. (Via YouTube / unclejimmymack)

Police say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident. Two other passengers are in critical condition while another is in fair condition.
